Detection Technology

The KQ6016 uses capacitive sensing to detect suitable materials without mechanical contact. Its sensing range is 12 mm and the real sensing range is 12 ±10%. Hysteresis is specified between 1 and 15% of Sr. Switch-point drift is specified from -20 to 20% of Sr. The technology is suitable for level and material-presence applications.

NPN Output

The sensor uses an NPN electrical design for sinking-type control interfaces. It operates from 10 to 30 V DC with less than 17 mA current consumption. The output supports 100 mA permanent current. Short-circuit and overload protection provide electrical protection. Reverse polarity protection is also included.

IO-Link Communication

IO-Link revision 1.1 provides digital parameterization and process-data communication. The sensor uses COM1 transmission at 4.8 kBaud. SIO mode supports conventional switching operation. The minimum process cycle time is 100.8 ms. The device has default DeviceID 371 in the documented configuration.

Mechanical and Connection Design

The KQ6016 measures 20 × 14 × 48 mm and uses a rectangular non-flush housing. The housing is made from glass-fibre-reinforced PBT with reinforced PC cover construction. A yellow LED provides switching-status indication. The 2 m PVC cable has a 3 × 0.14 mm² conductor configuration. The connection terminates in a three-contact M12 A-coded connector.

NPN Control Integration

The NPN output makes the KQ6016 suitable for automation systems using sinking sensor inputs. Its selectable output function provides flexibility during control-system configuration. The sensor can operate in conventional SIO mode when IO-Link is not required. IO-Link remains available for parameterization and diagnostics. This provides a combination of traditional and intelligent sensor integration.

M12 Connection

The M12 connector provides a robust industrial connection interface. Its three-contact A-coded configuration matches the three-wire sensor architecture. The 2 m cable supports installations where the sensor is positioned away from the control cabinet. The cable uses PVC insulation and 0.14 mm² conductors. This configuration provides a practical solution for distributed machine installations.
