The IFM KQ6008 is a compact PNP capacitive sensor for non-contact material detection. It provides a 12 mm sensing range and selectable normally open or normally closed output operation. The sensor uses a 0.04 m PVC cable with an M8 connector. IO-Link 1.1 provides digital communication and parameterization. Its reinforced rectangular housing is designed for industrial applications.
Explore performance details, construction highlights, applications, and technical information in one clear overview.
The KQ6008 detects dry bulk materials and liquids using capacitive measurement. Its nominal sensing range is 12 mm with a real sensing range of 12 ±10%. Hysteresis is specified from 1 to 15% of Sr. Switch-point drift is specified from -20 to 20% of Sr. This provides a practical sensing platform for level and presence monitoring.
The sensor uses a DC PNP output stage. Operating voltage is 10 to 30 V DC and current consumption is below 17 mA. The switching output supports 100 mA continuous current and 10 Hz switching frequency. Short-circuit and overload protection are included. Reverse polarity protection is also provided.
The KQ6008 supports IO-Link revision 1.1. Communication uses COM1 transmission at 4.8 kBaud. SIO mode permits conventional switching operation. The minimum process cycle time is 100.8 ms. Digital configuration can simplify commissioning and maintenance.
The sensor uses a 0.04 m PVC cable and M8 connector. The connection includes three 0.14 mm² conductors. Its 57 × 36 × 14 mm mechanical data is associated with the specific mounting-adapter presentation in the current documentation, while the core sensor family uses the compact KQ rectangular format. The sensor provides a yellow switching-status LED. An E12153 mounting adapter is supplied with the documented version.

The short cable and M8 connector are useful where wiring space is restricted. The sensor can be installed close to other machine components without a long cable loop. Teach functionality supports quick commissioning. IO-Link provides additional configuration options for connected automation systems. The result is a compact sensor solution for modern machine design.
The yellow LED provides a direct visual indication of switching status. Electronic locking can help prevent unintended configuration changes. IO-Link can simplify parameter access during commissioning and maintenance. Short connectorized wiring can make sensor replacement more convenient. These features support efficient machine servicing.
