Capacitive Sensing

The KB0041 detects materials using capacitive measurement without physical contact. Its sensing range is adjustable from 3 to 20 mm using the integrated potentiometer. The real sensing range is 20 ±10% and the operating distance is 0 to 16.2 mm. Material correction factors are defined for common targets such as glass, water, ceramics and PVC. This makes the sensor suitable for level and presence monitoring.

AC/DC Operation

The combined AC/DC output stage allows the sensor to operate from 20 to 250 V AC/DC. The normally open output supports 200 mA continuous current. Maximum voltage drop is 8 V for DC and 10 V for AC. Switching frequency reaches 25 Hz on AC and 40 Hz on DC. Short-circuit and overload protection are not provided internally.

Mechanical Construction

The sensor has a cylindrical PBT housing measuring Ø34 × 81 mm. It is designed for non-flush mounting and includes a red switching-status LED. IP65 protection provides protection against dust and water jets. The ambient temperature range is -25 to 70°C. The supplied 2 m PVC cable uses two 0.5 mm² conductors.

Noise-Immunity Advantage

The KB0041 is designed with increased immunity to conducted radio-frequency interference. This helps maintain stable switching in electrically noisy industrial environments. The smooth housing also helps reduce deposits on the sensor body. The integrated potentiometer allows the sensing range to be adjusted during commissioning. These features make the sensor practical for demanding production equipment.

Wiring and Maintenance

Two-wire technology simplifies the electrical connection. The 2 m PVC cable provides direct connection to the control circuit. The red LED provides a clear indication of switching status. A miniature fuse is specified for external protection. Mounting clamps, cylinder screws and spring discs are supplied with the sensor.
