The IFM KI0209 is a cylindrical capacitive sensor designed for non-contact detection of materials. It provides a 15 mm sensing range and uses a normally closed switching output. The sensor operates from 20–250 V AC/DC, allowing direct connection to compatible control circuits. Its M30 × 1.5 threaded housing has an overall length of 81 mm. The sensor is designed for general industrial material and presence detection applications.
Explore performance details, construction highlights, applications, and technical information in one clear overview.
The KI0209 uses capacitive sensing to detect changes caused by the presence of a target material. Its specified sensing range is 15 mm. The sensor is designed for non-contact detection and can be used with different material types. An integrated adjustment arrangement allows the sensing behaviour to be adapted to the installation. This makes it suitable for material presence and level-detection applications.
The KI0209 supports a broad 20–250 V AC/DC supply range. Its two-wire switching design allows direct integration into compatible control circuits. The normally closed output provides a defined switching state when the target is absent. The maximum permanent switching current is 200 mA for both AC and DC operation. This wide supply capability makes the sensor useful across different industrial electrical systems.
The KI0209 uses an M30 × 1.5 threaded housing with an overall length of 81 mm. The cylindrical construction provides a conventional mounting format for industrial machines and process equipment. A 2 m PVC cable provides the electrical connection. The sensor includes local adjustment and indication elements. This configuration supports straightforward installation and commissioning.

The KI0209 provides a maximum voltage drop of 8 V on DC and 10 V on AC. Its maximum leakage current is 2.5 mA at 250 V AC, 1.7 mA at 110 V AC and 1.5 mA at 24 V DC. Continuous switching current is rated at 200 mA. The short-time switching current can reach 2200 mA for 20 ms at 0.5 Hz. These characteristics define the electrical limits for compatible control loads.
The sensor has a maximum power-on delay of 300 ms. Its protection class is II. Unlike many low-voltage DC sensors, the KI0209 does not provide reverse-polarity protection because it is designed for AC/DC operation. Short-circuit and overload protection are not provided. Electrical installation should therefore follow the specified switching and load requirements.
