IFM E21317 is a fibre optic through-beam sensor designed for industrial object detection. It features an angled M6 sensing head that provides a secure and flexible mounting arrangement. E21317 uses a through-beam sensing principle for reliable object interruption detection. The fibre assembly can be connected to OBF, OCF and OO50 fibre-optic amplifiers. It provides 210 mm range with OBF, 4000 mm with OCF High Power and 600 mm with OO50. This makes it suitable for applications requiring different detection distances. The through-beam configuration is particularly useful for reliable presence and passage detection.
The sensor uses an angled sensing head with an M6 thread and 17.5 mm head length. The threaded head provides a secure mechanical interface for machine mounting. Its angled construction allows the sensing direction to be positioned according to the machine layout. This is useful where straight fibre mounting is difficult or where the sensing point is located near machine structures. The M6 design also supports robust industrial installation.
The total fibre length is 2000 mm and the minimum bending radius is 2 mm. This allows the fibre to be routed through compact machine assemblies and around obstacles. The fibre uses PMMA material with a stainless-steel 303 / 1.4305 fibre head and PE sheath. Four M6 hexagon nuts and four tooth lock washers are supplied. An E20600 cutter is available for fibre preparation.
