IFM E21312 is a fibre optic diffuse reflection sensor designed for object detection in industrial automation applications. Its flat rectangular construction allows installation in locations where mounting space is restricted. The sensor can be cut to the required length and used with compatible OBF, OCF and OO50 fibre-optic amplifiers. It provides fibre-optic ranges of 70 mm, 1060 mm and 150 mm depending on the amplifier used. The 2 m PMMA fibre and compact angled sensing head provide flexible machine integration.

E21312 uses the diffuse reflection sensing principle to detect objects based on reflected optical energy. It is designed for use with OBF, OCF and OO50 fibre-optic amplifiers. The available fibre-optic range reaches 70 mm with OBF, 1060 mm with OCF High Power and 150 mm with OO50. This makes the sensor suitable for different object-detection distances. The diffuse reflection principle is useful when a separate receiver fibre is not required.
The sensing head has compact dimensions of 3 x 11 x 15 mm and an angled configuration. The flat rectangular design is suitable for installations where available mounting space is limited. The fibre assembly can be routed through compact machine structures while maintaining optical sensing capability. Its 2 mm minimum bending radius provides additional flexibility during installation. This design is useful for automation systems with restricted access around the detection point.
The sensor uses PMMA fibre with a stainless-steel 303 / 1.4305 fibre head and PE sheath. The total fibre length is 2000 mm, providing sufficient routing distance between the sensing point and amplifier. It operates within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 70°C. Two M2 stainless-steel hexagon nuts are included with the product. The optional E20600 cutter can be used for fibre preparation and cutting.
