IFM E21311 is a fibre optic through-beam sensor designed for reliable object detection in industrial automation systems. It uses a particularly flat rectangular fibre arrangement for installation where mounting space is limited. The sensor operates as a through-beam sensing system when connected to a compatible fibre-optic amplifier. Its 2 m fibre length and 2 mm minimum bending radius provide flexibility for machine integration. The sensor uses PMMA optical fibre with a stainless-steel sensing head and PE sheath.
Explore performance details, construction highlights, applications, and technical information in one clear overview.
IFM E21311 uses the through-beam sensing principle for reliable object detection. The fibre optic assembly is designed to work with compatible OBF, OCF and OO50 fibre-optic amplifiers. Depending on the amplifier, the fibre optic range can reach 210 mm with OBF, 4000 mm with OCF High Power and 600 mm with OO50. This provides flexibility for different industrial sensing requirements. The through-beam configuration is particularly useful where dependable interruption detection is required.
The sensor has a compact straight sensing head measuring approximately 3 x 8.5 x 15 mm. Its particularly flat rectangular design allows installation in areas where conventional sensor housings may be difficult to position. The 2 m total fibre length provides flexibility when routing the sensor through machinery. A minimum bending radius of 2 mm helps simplify installation around compact machine structures. This makes E21311 suitable for applications with restricted mounting access.
The fibre is manufactured from PMMA and uses a stainless-steel 303 / 1.4305 fibre head with a PE sheath. This combination provides a lightweight yet durable construction for industrial sensing installations. The sensor operates across an ambient temperature range of -40 to 70°C. Four M2 stainless-steel hexagon nuts are supplied for installation. An E20600 fibre optic cutter is available as an optional accessory for fibre preparation.
