The IFM LR9020 is a guided wave radar level sensor with an analogue output and IO-Link communication. It is designed for continuous liquid-level measurement in tanks and containers. The probe length can be selected from 100 to 1600 mm. It provides a 4...20 mA or 0...10 V analogue output together with a digital IO-Link interface. The sensor supports programmable measurement ranges and level settings for automated process control.
Explore performance details, construction highlights, applications, and technical information in one clear overview.
The LR9020 uses guided wave radar for continuous level measurement. Its active measurement range is based on the installed probe length. A 1 mm resolution provides detailed level information. The sensor provides ±5 mm repeatability and ±7 mm measuring error. This makes it suitable for continuous tank-level monitoring.
The sensor provides an analogue process signal. The output can be configured as 4...20 mA or 0...10 V. The analogue signal can be inverted according to the configuration. The output can therefore be connected directly to standard PLC analogue inputs. This provides flexible integration into existing control systems.
IO-Link provides digital access to sensor parameters and process information. The LR9020 supports IO-Link 1.1 and COM2 communication at 38.4 kBaud. SIO mode is available for conventional operation. The sensor also provides identification and diagnostic functionality. This makes it suitable for connected automation systems.

The analogue output provides continuous level information to a controller. The 4...20 mA signal is suitable for long-distance industrial transmission. The 0...10 V option provides an alternative analogue interface. Output scaling can be configured for the required measuring range. This allows the LR9020 to fit different process-control architectures.
IO-Link provides additional digital information beyond the analogue signal. Parameterisation can be performed through the automation system. Diagnostic information helps identify sensor conditions. SIO mode also permits conventional switching-style integration. This gives the LR9020 flexibility between traditional and modern automation systems.
